The Classcraft Study
SRI (a non-profit research organization) is partnering with HMH to conduct a study of HMH Classcraft. SRI is recruiting grade 6-8 teachers currently using HMH Into Literature (Version 2) to participate in the study starting in fall 2026. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the study will assess whether Classcraft:
- Improves teachers’ classroom management practices;
- Increases students’ motivation and academic engagement; and
- Improves students’ social-emotional and behavioral skills.
- The project will include up to 100 grade 6-8 teachers using HMH Into Literature in approximately 10-15 schools. SRI will randomly assign half of the teachers to receive training and implement Classcraft in one class for one school year. The other half (comparison group) will continue using HMH Into Literature and typical classroom management practices and will be able to implement Classcraft the following school year.
