BEST in CLASS is a Tier 2 evidence-based intervention for young children with persistent and intensive challenging behaviors. It is designed to enhance and support teachers’ use of effective instructional practices that help prevent children’s challenging behaviors and support learning.

Over three school years (2022/23 to 2024/25), SRI researchers and BEST in CLASS developers partnered with school districts and early childhood programs across California, Florida, and Virginia to implement and evaluate the program.

In this report, we share findings about the implementation of BEST in CLASS and its impact on children and teachers. Although BEST in CLASS requires dedicated time, labor, and resources, the investment pays off: Teachers found BEST in CLASS strategies practical and relevant, coaching relationships grew stronger, and classrooms showed meaningful improvements in teaching practice.
